Company:
TWSBI is a Taiwanese manufacturer of writing instruments that has been operating for over 40 years. TWSBI's name is an acronym for the phrase "Hall of Three Cultures" in Chinese. "San Wen Tong" (Hall of Three Cultures) was reversed and "Bi" (Writing Instruments) was added to create TWSBI.

The TWSBI Diamond 580 Navy is a demonstrator fountain pen produced by TWSBI. The specifications of the pen are as follows:
Review:
The TWSBI Diamond 580 Navy is identical to the standard TWSBI Diamond 580 with two exceptions - the TWSBI Navy has a blue finial with an anchor rather than the traditional red TWSBI finial, and the metal band around the body of the cap reads "NAVY" on the front and "Diamond 580 By TWSBI TAIWAN" on the back. This pen was specifically ordered from a Taiwanese seller, and it is unclear if this specific finial is only intended for the Taiwanese domestic market, or if it will eventually be made for international consumption.
The pen wrote immediately out of the box with no priming, and it came with the standard TWSBI wrench and silicone grease located +on the underside of the case. Despite this having an Extra Fine nib, the writing was smooth and there were no line skips or stoppages, nor was the writing scratchy. The ink used in the pictures is Private Reserve Electric DC Blue.
Despite the body of the pen being made of resin, the pen has a solid weight to it without being too heavy. The body is quite transparent, allowing the user to see the ink in the pen, and the piston mechanism functions well, but it may need to be lubricated with the supplied silicone grease at certain times. To do this, simply uncap the silicone grease and rub the opening of the bottle along the piston - this will allow the piston to move up and down the body of the pen more smoothly. It is also worth noting that the pen can be completely disassembled (with that aid of the TWSBI wrench provided), so cleaning the pen and lubricating the piston are fairly simple.
While the TWSBI Navy has many strengths, the pen does have some flaws. First, the cap of the pen, as with all TWSBI Diamond 580 incarnations, does not post well on the back of the pen. It can be posted, but it is not very secure and causes the pen to become overly back-heavy. Second, if the piston is not well lubricated, it may become stiff and stuck in the body of the pen; luckily, since the pen is able to be completely taken apart, this should not be a major issue.
Despite some of the aforementioned flaws, the TWSBI Diamond 580 Navy is an exceptional pen for its price. It has a solid feel and construction, is a piston-filling demonstrator, can be fully taken apart, and has a reliable and smooth nib. TWSBI also has a strong reputation for producing high quality pens at affordable prices for their customers, and the company also prides itself on taking advice from their customers through the company's social media pages.
Due to the aforementioned reasons, the TWSBI Diamond 580 Navy is recommended by Lion Stationers. It can be purchased from the following vendors:
