Review:
The Orient Ray Raven II is a reliable and durable dive watch at an impressive price point. This newer version of the Orient Ray comes with a hacking and hand-winding in-house Orient movement, which the Orient Ray I did not have. This particular version of the watch is completely coated in black PVD and comes with a matching black PVD stainless steel watch band. In addition, the pictures for this review show the Orient Ray Raven II on an approximately 7" wrist.
The Orient Ray Raven II is a striking and impressive watch for its price point. It is also surprisingly accurate for a watch at this price point, and the PVD coating is applied well and can hold up to daily use. The aforementioned upgraded movement is both hand-winding and hackable, and the watch comes with an improved 120 click unidirectional bezel that is smoother than that of its predecessor. The bracelet has a light weight, matches the watch well, and comes with a push-button deployant clasp (similar to its predecessor). The bracelet is 22 millimeters, which may be too big for some, but the watch can also be worn on other black bands (bracelets, leather or NATO straps), adding to its versatility as a daily watch. In addition, the luminescent on the watch is generously applied, and it glows beautifully after minimal light exposure. The watch also has a day date window with a black background and white lettering and numbers, making it more legible.
For the aforementioned reasons, the Orient Ray Raven II is recommended by Lion Stationers. The Ray Raven II can be purchased from the following vendors:
