Product:
The Pilot Custom 74 is a vaccum-filling demonstrator fountain pen from Pilot. The pen used for these review purposes has a Japanese fine nib. The specifications of the pen are as follows:
Review:
The Pilot Custom 74 is a high-quality fountain pen that writes well, has a good balanced feel to it, is eye-catching and versatile enough to be used as a daily writer or only used infrequently. The nib is 14k gold and very smooth, even as a Japanese "fine." The clip of the pen is sturdy and can maintain a hold on shirt pockets, but it would be best to keep this pen out of jean pockets, as it may become damage. The pen has a twist-off cap that can be posted securely on the back of the pen, although the body of the pen is long enough for the pen to be used unposted.
In addition to the pen's specifications, the pen itself comes with the Pilot CON-70 Fountain Pen Converter (which sells by itself for around $10.00). The converter is made of plastic, has a maximum ink capacity of 1.1 milliliters, a length of 3.1 inches, and weights about 5 grams. The CON-70 is one of the easiest fountain pen converters to use, as it employs a push button that sucks ink into the converter every time it is clicked. This also makes the CON-70 one of the easiest converters to clean, as well as one of Pilot's largest ink converters in terms of ink capacity.
Due to the aforementioned reasons, the Pilot Custom 74 is recommended by Lion Stationers. It can be purchased from the following vendors:
