San Jose Sharks 8, Columbus Blue Jackets 0 (Game 58)

5/11/2020
The Sharks (56-1-0) visited Nationwide Arena to play the Columbus Blue Jackets (26-27-3) for the third time this season, with the Sharks winning both previous contests. During their first matchup of the season (also at Nationwide Arena), Teemu Selanne had three assists and Vincent Damphousse had a four-point night, scoring a hat trick and registering one assist in a 6-2 Sharks victory. The Sharks outshot the Blue Jackets 26-18 and went 3/4 on the powerplay in that game.

In their second matchup of the season, the Sharks dominated with an 8-1 performance on home ice. The Sharks took an early 1-0 lead on a powerplay goal by Teemu Selanne, only for Espen Knutsen to tie the game a few minutes later. The Sharks went on to score seven unanswered goals, with Vincent Damphousse registering a goal and two assists and Patrick Marleau registering a goal and an assist. The Sharks outshot the Blue Jackets 25-19 in the contest.

During this, their third meeting of the season, the Sharks sported their 1990s throwback jerseys and had another strong performance. Rookie Lynn Loyns scored two goals, Marco Sturm registered one goal and one assist, Alexander Korolyuk scored two goals, and Evgeni Nabokov registered his first shutout against Columbus this season as the Sharks blanked the Blue Jackets 8-0. The Sharks outshot the Blue Jackets 30-17 and again went 3/4 on the powerplay.

The Sharks' next game will be in Pennsylvania against the host Philadelphia Flyers, whom the Sharks defeated 11-1 in their first meeting of the season.
