San Jose Sharks 6, Calgary Flames 0 (Game 77)

5/28/2020
The Sharks (75-1-0) continued their homestand with a matchup against the Calgary Flames (34-28-15) for their fourth meeting of the season. The Sharks are 3-0-0 against the Flames this season.
Neither team scored in an uneventful 1st period that saw only nine total shots on goal by both teams.

San Jose opened the scoring in the 2nd period on a goal from Alexander Korolyuk, and continued with a goal by Vincent Damphousse on a beautiful one-time feed from Adam Graves, who has fit in solidly into San Jose's second line. Patrick Marleau (SJ) then had a one-time shot ring off of the post, but it was immediately buried by Marco Sturm (SJ) to give the Sharks a 3-0 lead. Sharks rookie Niko Dimitrakos then scored on a breakaway with a backhand shot that was roofed over Roman Turek's (CGY) arm, and Adam Graves (SJ) scored on a beautiful individual effort to give the Sharks a 5-0 lead heading into the 3rd period. Despite being outshot 12-11 by the Flames, the Sharks managed to score on 5 out of 6 shots on net in the 2nd period, their highest scoring percentage in a single period for the season.

Niko Dimitrakos (SJ) scored on a wraparound backhand chance (his second goal of the game) to extend the Sharks' lead to 6-0 and chase Roman Turek (CGY) for the remainder of the game. The Sharks would go on to win 6-0 and outshoot the Flames 21-17. The following players were selected as the three stars of the game:

3) Evgeni Nabokov (SJ) registered 17 saves on 17 shots
2) Alexander Korolyuk (SJ) registered one goal, one assist and +2
1) Niko Dimitrakos (SJ) registered two goals, zero assists and +2

Final Score:
Calgary Flames       0
San Jose Sharks      6

The Sharks will next travel to Arizona to face the Phoenix Coyotes for their sixth meeting of the season. The Sharks are 5-0-0 against Phoenix this season. The game is scheduled to be broadcast tomorrow, Friday May 29th at 7:00PM Pacific Standard Time.
