San Jose Sharks 5, Los Angeles Kings 1 (Game 80)

The Sharks (78-1-0) travelled to the Staples Center in Los Angeles to take on the Kings for their fifth meeting of the season. The Sharks were 4-0-0 against the Kings this season entering the contest, and Evgeni Nabokov (SJ) and Roman Cechmanek (LA) started in goal for their respective teams. 
1st Period
Brad Stuart (SJ) opened the scoring early on a one-timer backhand goal on an assist from Alexander Korolyuk (SJ) to give the Sharks a 1-0 lead after a flurry of shots by the Kings on Evgeni Nabokov (SJ). Cechmanek later robbed Teemu Selanne (SJ) of a backhand attempt on a breakaway to keep the score 1-0. Scott Thornton (SJ) then took a hooking penalty to give the Kings a powerplay and a chance to tie the game. However, midway through the powerplay Lubomir Visnovsky (LA) took an interference penalty that was eventually cashed in on by Teemu Selanne (SJ) on a one-timer that was assisted by Scott Thornton (SJ) immediately after he exited the penalty box. Patrick Marleau (SJ) won the ensuing faceoff to Kyle McLaren (SJ) whose pass to Alexander Korolyuk (SJ) allowed him to break into the Kings zone alone and score to give the Sharks a 3-0 lead heading into the 2nd period. All of this came despite the Kings outshooting the Sharks 14-8 in the 1st period. 

2nd Period
​Dan McGillis (SJ) started the 2nd period by taking a roughing penalty on Aaron Miller (LA). The Sharks killed off the majority of the penalty until Jaroslav Modry (LA) took an elbowing penalty against Teemu Selanne (SJ) to give San Jose an eventual powerplay. Dan McGillis (SJ) proceeded to leave the penalty box an join the Sharks' rush, stealing an errant pass from Roman Cechmanek and providing a shot that lead to a rebound for Vincent Damphousse (SJ) to score a powerplay goal. Cechmanek (LA) was pulled after giving up his fourth goal against in the game. Jason Allison (LA) then took a hooking penalty against Mike Ricci (SJ) to give the Kings another penalty kill, but it was short-lived as Rob Davison (SJ) was called for roughing against Jozef Stumpel (LA). 

The Sharks eventually killed the penalty, and Scott Hannan (SJ) and Aaron Miller (LA) engaged in a spirited bout that saw Hannan eventually score the K.O. The parade of penalties continued with Alexander Korolyuk (SJ) being called for obstruction hooking, but the Kings were unable to capitalize on the subsequent powerplay. Cristobal Huet (LA) proved up to the task, as he did not allow the Sharks a single goal in the 2nd period. The Kings were still outshooting the Sharks going into the 3rd period, 24-22, but were 0/4 on powerplay chances, while the Sharks converted on 2/3 powerplays. 

3rd Period
The 3rd period saw Jason Allison (LA) break in down the right wing side and snap a wrist shot past Evgeni Nabokov (SJ) to give the Kings their first goal of the contest. However, the celebration was short-lived, as Mattias Norstrom (LA) received a penalty for hooking and on the ensuing faceoff Vincent Damphousse (SJ) scored on a rebound to extend the Sharks' lead to 5-1. 

Scott Thornton (SJ) then took yet another Sharks penalty for roughing, but again the Sharks managed to kill the penalty with strong defense and solid goaltending by Evgeni Nabokov. The Kings release shot after shot on goal after the powerplay, but Nabokov remained up to the task. Mike Rathje (SJ) then took a hooking penalty to give the Kings another powerplay, which they again failed to capitalize on, even givving up a clear cut breakaway to Teemu Selanne (SJ), which Cristobal Huet was able to barely stop with his right pad. Neither team would score again. 

The Kings outshot the Sharks 38-30, but the Sharks converted on 3/4 powerplays while the Kings were 0/6. The following players were named the three stars of the game: 

3) Teemu Selanne (SJ)  registered 1 goal,  1 assist and +0 
2) Vincent Damphousse (SJ) registered 2 goals, 0 assists and  +0 
1) Evgeni Nabokov (SJ) registered 37 saves on 38 shots against (97%)

San Jose Sharks 6, Dallas Stars 1 (Game 79)

The Sharks (77-1-0) returned to the Shark Tank to face the Stars for the 6th and final time this season. The Sharks are 5-0-0 against the Stars this year, with Evgeni Nabokov (SJ) averaging less than 1 goal against per game against the Stars (Vesa Toskala played one game for the Sharks against the Stars allowed 4 goals on 51 shots in an 11-4 Sharks win). 
Alexander Korolyuk opened the scoring for the Sharks early in the first period on a backhand shot over Marty Turco (DAL) to give the Sharks the lead. Scott Thornton (SJ) followed up with a goal of his own by splitting the Dallas defense and backhanding a shot past Turco (DAL). Korolyuk (SJ) then scored on a one-time feed from Brad Stuart to give the Sharks a 3-0 lead midway through the 1st period. Braed Stuart (SJ) and Patrick Marleau (SJ) then broke through the Star's defense on a 2-on-0 and Stuart backhanded the fourth Sharks goal of the period past the outstretched arm of Marty Turco, giving the Sharks a 4-0 lead heading into the 2nd period. 

San Jose and Dallas traded shots and scoring opportunities early in the 2nd period until Dan McGillis (SJ) and Phillipe Boucher (DAL) dropped the gloves and Boucher dropped to the ice. Neither team scored and the Stars outshot the Sharks 12-10 by the 2nd intermission. 

Jere Lehtinen (DAL) intercepted an errant pass from Evgeni Nabokov (SJ) to bury the puck in an open net and cut the Sharks' lead to 4-1. Despite the mishap, Nabokov (SJ) redeemed himself later in the period by robbing Jason Arnott (DAL) on a shot from the slot with Jere Lehtinen (DAL) in front of the net. Sharks' captain Patrick Marleau then broke in and scored on a backhand goal to extend the Sharks' lead, and Mike Ricci (SJ) scored on a similar backhand goal to chase Marty Turco (DAL) and extend the Sharks' lead to 6-1. Teemu Selanne (SJ) then took an obstruction hooking penalty, giving the Stars a powerplay. The Sharks killed the powerplay with strong defensive play and outstanding goaltending from Nabokov to keep the score 6-1, which it remained up until the final whistle. 

The Stars outshot the Sharks 24-19, and the following players were selected as the three stars of the game: 

3) Patrick Marleau (SJ) registered 1 goal, 1 assist and +3 
2) Alexander Korolyuk (SJ) registered 2 goals, 0 assists and +2 
1) Evgeni Nabokov (SJ) stopped 23 of 24 shots on goal (95%)

San Jose Sharks 6, Phoenix Coyotes 3 (Game 78)

5/29/2020
The Sharks (76-1-0) traveled the the Glendale Arena in Phoenix, Arizona to take on the Coyotes (36-33-8). San Jose had won all five previous meetings this season. 
Teemu Selanne (SJ) opened the scoring on a one-time powerplay goal on a feed from Vincent Damphousse. Lynn Loyns (SJ) immediately followed on the ensuing faceoff by burying a one-time shot of his own on a pass from Scott Thornton to give the Sharks a 2-0 lead. Dan McGillis (SJ) capped the 1st period scoring on another assist from Vincent Damphousse (his second assist of the night), to give the Sharks a 3-0 lead heading into the 2nd period. 

Phoenix unexpectedly started the 2nd period on an own goal by Scott Thornton (SJ) that was credited to David Tanabe (PHX). Dan McGillis (SJ) responded by scoring his second goal of the game, again on a one-time pass from Vincent Damphousse, this time shorthanded. Kyle McLaren (SJ) added a one-time powerplay goal to chase Sean Burke (PHX), who gave up 5 goals, all of which were Sharks' one-time shots. He was replaced in net by Brian Boucher (PHX). San Jose subsequently took a 5-1 lead into the 3rd period; Phoenix had not scored more than 3 goals against the Sharks all season. 

Alyn McCauley (SJ) opened the scoring on an individual play in which he broke in alone and roofed the puck on Boucher's Blocker side to give the Sharks a 6-1 lead. However, Jan Hrdina (PHX) scored on a one-timer on a pass from Michal Grosek (PHX) to pull the Coyotes to 6-2 of the Sharks. Daymond Langkow (PHX) added one more goal on a breakaway to pull the Coyotes to within 6-3 of the Sharks, but that was where the score remained. The Coyotes outshot the Sharks 32-30 in the contest but were 0/2 on the powerplay while San Jose converted on 2/5 powerplays. The following players were selected as the three stars of the game:

San Jose Sharks 6, Calgary Flames 0 (Game 77)

5/28/2020
The Sharks (75-1-0) continued their homestand with a matchup against the Calgary Flames (34-28-15) for their fourth meeting of the season. The Sharks are 3-0-0 against the Flames this season. 
Neither team scored in an uneventful 1st period that saw only nine total shots on goal by both teams. 

San Jose opened the scoring in the 2nd period on a goal from Alexander Korolyuk, and continued with a goal by Vincent Damphousse on a beautiful one-time feed from Adam Graves, who has fit in solidly into San Jose's second line. Patrick Marleau (SJ) then had a one-time shot ring off of the post, but it was immediately buried by Marco Sturm (SJ) to give the Sharks a 3-0 lead. Sharks rookie Niko Dimitrakos then scored on a breakaway with a backhand shot that was roofed over Roman Turek's (CGY) arm, and Adam Graves (SJ) scored on a beautiful individual effort to give the Sharks a 5-0 lead heading into the 3rd period. Despite being outshot 12-11 by the Flames, the Sharks managed to score on 5 out of 6 shots on net in the 2nd period, their highest scoring percentage in a single period for the season. 

​Niko Dimitrakos (SJ) scored on a wraparound backhand chance (his second goal of the game) to extend the Sharks' lead to 6-0 and chase Roman Turek (CGY) for the remainder of the game. The Sharks would go on to win 6-0 and outshoot the Flames 21-17. The following players were selected as the three stars of the game:

2) Alexander Korolyuk (SJ) registered one goal, one assist and +2

San Jose Sharks 14, Detroit Red Wings 1 (Game 76)

The Sharks (74-1-0) hosted the Detroit Red Wings (42-24-9) whom they have beaten three times in three games this season. The Sharks continued their homestand on an offensive hot streak, scoring eight goals in Dallas, 12 in Los Angeles, eight in Anaheim, and a season-high 14 against the Edmonton Oilers last night. 
Sharks' captain Patrick Marleau opened the scoring midway through the 1st period on a shorthanded goal, then followed up with a powerplay goal to give the Sharks a 2-0 when Mike Rathje (SJ) broke through the Detroit defense to bury a one-time goal to give the Sharks a 3-0 lead heading into the 2nd period. 

Patrick Marleau (SJ) wasted no time completing his hat trick on a powerplay goal early in the 2nd period, followed by back-to-back powerplay goals by Teemu Selanne (SJ), a one-time goal by Vincent Damphousse (SJ), and one-time goal by Brad Stuart (SJ) with less than one second left in the 2nd period to give the Sharks an 8-0 lead heading into the 3rd period. The Sharks and Wings were even at 22 shots each, but the Sharks had converted on 4/5 powerplays against Detroit's penalty kill, the 2nd best penalty kill in the league coming into this game. 

The Sharks extended their lead early with Scott Thornton scoring mere seconds into the 3rd period, but he was quickly answered by Mark Mowers (DET), who gave the Red Wings their first goal of the season against Vesa Toskala (SJ). Toskala incidentally assisted on Mike Rathje's (SJ) second goal of the game, followed by an unassisted goal by Alexander Korolyuk (SJ). Vincent Damphousse (SJ) would go on to score two more goals to register a hat trick, and Patrick Marleau would score his season-high fourth goal of the game to give the Sharks a 14-1 victory. 

The Red Wings outshot the Sharks 33-30, but San Jose converted on 5/6 powerplays, matching their highest powerplay goals scored in a single game this season. The players selected as the three stars of the game were:

San Jose Sharks 14, Edmonton Oilers 4 (Game 75)

5/26/2020
The Sharks (73-1-0) faced the Edmonton Oilers (29-32-13) at HP Pavilion, with the Sharks going 3-0-0 in the previous three contests. Both teams sported their alternate jerseys for their final meeting of the regular season. 
The Sharks jumped to an early lead on a goal by Lynn Loyns and a powerplay goal by Patrick Marleau, before Ryan Smyth for the Oilers cut the Sharks lead to 2-1. Marco Sturm (SJ) ended the period with another Sharks powerplay goal to give the Sharks a 3-1 lead heading into the 2nd period. 

The Sharks then opened the 2nd period with back-to-back powerplay goals by Marco Sturm and Adam Graves, followed by goals by Lynn Loyns and Brad Stuart to take a 7-1 lead into the 3rd period. The Sharks were outshooting Edmonton 20-13  and converted on 4/5 powerplays going into the 3rd period. 

The third period saw the highest scoring of the season for the Sharks, with San Jose registering seven goals and Edmonton registering three for a total of ten goals scored in the 3rd period. The Sharks outshot Edmonton 34-25  for the game to sweep the season series 4-0-0. The following players were selected as the three stars of the game:

San Jose Sharks 8, Mighty Ducks of Anaheim 2 (Game 74)

This was the fifth meeting between these to teams, as the Sharks (72-1-0) had won all four previous meetings against the Mighty Ducks (29-37-8). Evgeni Nabokov (SJ) and J.S. Giguere (ANA) were the starting goaltenders and the matchup took place at the Arrowhead Pond in Anaheim. 

Lynn Loyns (SJ) opened the scoring early, followed by Rob Davison (SJ) on the powerplay to give the Sharks a 2-0 lead, which they took into the 2nd period. 

The 2nd period was another dominant one for the Sharks, with goals scored by Teemu Selanne (SH), Patrick Marleau (PP), Lynn Loyns, Vincent and Alexander Korolyuk before Brian Sutherby (ANA) scored on a rebound to begin Anaheim's comeback attempt against a 6-1 lead for San Jose, but Scott Thornton (SJ) quickly answered on a one-time shot to extend the Sharks' lead to 7-1 going into the 3rd period. 

The 3rd period saw Sergei Berezin (ANA) score on a one-time shot set up by Sergei Federov, but his goal was answered immediately on the ensuing faceoff by a one-timer from Adam Graves (SJ) to give the Sharks an 8-2 lead and eventual win. The Sharks outshot the Mighty Ducks 35-24 in the contest, and following players were selected as the three stars of the game: 

3) Patrick Marleau (SJ) registered one goal, two assists and +1
2) Teemu Selanne (SJ) registered one goal, one assist and +3

San Jose Sharks 12, Los Angeles Kings 1 (Game 73)

The Sharks (71-1-0) traveled back to Los Angeles to face the Kings (32-31-9) for the fifth time this season. San Jose was 4-0-0 against the Kings this season going into this contest. 

Los Angeles Kings vs. San Jose Sharks (Game 35)

Vesa Toskala (SJ) and Roman Cechmanek (LA) started in goal. The Sharks opened the scoring with a shorthanded goal by Vincent Damphousse (SJ), which was followed by a goal by Scott Hannan (SJ) to give the Sharks a 2-0 lead heading into the 2nd period.  

Patrick Marleau (SJ) scored shorthanded nine seconds into the 2nd period to give the Sharks a 3-0 lead, but Mattias Nordstrom (LA) answered on the powerplay for the Kings' first goal of the game. Teemu Selanne (SJ) responded with a goal to extend the Sharks' lead to 4-1, but Luc Robitaille (LA) scored to pull the Kings back to within 4-2 to end the 2nd period. 

Jaroslav Modry (LA) scored midway through the 3rd period to pull the Kings to within 4-3 of the Sharks, and Jonathan Cheechoo (SJ) was called for tripping in the final minute of the game. On the ensuing Los Angeles powerplay, Vincent Damphousse won the faceoff in the Sharks' zone and Dan McGillis banked his clearing attempt off the boards and into the empty Kings net, giving the Sharks a 5-3 victory. The Kings outshot the Sharks 29-23, and the players selected as the three stars of the game were:

San Jose Sharks vs. Los Angeles Kings (Game 36)

The second meeting of the season took place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Roman Cechmanek (LA) again started for the Kings, while Evgeni Nabokov (SJ) replaced Vesa Toskala in goal for the Sharks. 

Marco Sturm (SJ) opened the scoring midway through the first period to give the Sharks a 1-0 lead heading into the 2nd period. 

The Sharks then scored five straight goals in the 2nd period, courtesy of Mike Ricci, Patrick Marleau (two goals), Marco Sturm and Teemu Selanne to take a 6-0 lead into the 3rd period. The Sharks also outshot the Kings 20-16 by the 2nd intermission. 

Teemu Selanne (SJ) opened the third period scoring on a breakaway goal, and Brad Stuart (SJ) scored a shorthanded goal to give the Sharks an 8-0 victory. The Sharks outshot the Kings 26-25, and the players selected as the three stars of the game were:

Los Angeles Kings vs. San Jose Sharks (Game 71)

The 1st period saw the Sharks dominate with goals by Adam Graves (PP), Dan McGillis, Mike Rathje, and a hat trick by captain Patrick Marleau, who started and ended the first period scoring. The Sharks converted on 2/5 powerplays and held the Kings to only 3 shots on goal to the Sharks' 17 in the first period. 

The second period saw a reversal of fortunes, as the Sharks failed to register a goal (despite launching 15 shots on net), but the Kings recorded a shorthanded goal by Jozef Stumpel. It was the first shorthanded goal against for the Sharks all season, and the 2nd period ended with the Sharks leading 6-1. 

Adam Graves (SJ) opened the scoring in the 3rd period for San Jose, and Marco Sturm and Niko Dimitrakos added goals of their own to give the Sharks a 9-1 victory. The Sharks outshot the Kings 41-20, and the following three players were selected as the three stars of the game:

Today's Game: San Jose Sharks vs. Los Angeles Kings (Game 73)

The Sharks visited the Staples Center in Los Angeles for the second time this season. Teemu Selanne opened the scoring for the Sharks, but was immediately answered by Luc Robitaille (LA) who evened the score at 1-1. The Sharks then received back-to-back powerplay goals from Rob Davison and Adam Graves, as well as an even=strength goal by Sharks captain Patrick Marleau to end the 1st period with the Sharks leading 4-1. Los Angeles had not managed to score more than three goals against the Sharks in any game this season. 

The 2nd period was one of the most dominant of the Sharks' season. Teemu Selanne again opened the scoring for the Sharks, followed by Scott Thornton (SJ), Vincent Damphousse (SJ-PP), Thornton again on a breakaway, Marco Sturm (SJ) shorthanded, Adam Graves and Alyn McCauley as the Sharks added a total of seven goals in the 2nd period to take an 11-1 lead into the 3rd period. By the 2nd intermission the Sharks were outshooting the Kings 32-12, had converted on 3/4 powerplays and had scored nine straight goals since Luc Robitaille's (LA) game-tying goal in the 1st period. 

The 3rd period saw only one goal, as Lynn Loyns (SJ) scored on a breakaway goal to give the Sharks a 12-1 victory. The Sharks outshot the Kings 37-19 in the contest and went 3/5 on the powerplay.

San Jose Sharks 8, Dallas Stars 1 (Game 72)

This was the fifth meeting of the season between Sharks (70-1-0) and Stars (49-21-2), with San Jose winning all four previous meetings. Evgeni Nabokov had allowed only one goal in three games for the Sharks against the Stars, and he go the start in net tonight in Dallas. 

Dallas Stars vs. San Jose Sharks (Game 27)

The first game of the season between these teams took place at HP Pavilion in San Jose. Marco Sturm registered a hat trick and an assist, Patrick Marleau registered a season-high four goals and an assist and Evgeni Nabokov stopped 20 of 21 shots to give the Sharks a 10-1 victory. San Jose registered 31 shots and converted on 3/6 powerplays. ​

Dallas Stars vs. San Jose Sharks (Game 44)

The second meeting of the season, again at HP Pavilion in San Jose, saw the Sharks don their black third jerseys. San Jose players Marco Sturm registered two goals and a +2, Vincent Damphousse registered two goals, an assist and a +1, and Evgeni Nabokov stopped all 30 Dallas Stars shots to give the Sharks a 7-0 victory. ​

San Jose Sharks vs. Dallas Stars (Game 52)

The third meeting of the season between the Sharks and Stars took place at American Airlines Arena in Dallas. Marco Sturm registered one goal and one assist, as well as a +2 for the Sharks, while five other Sharks players also scored goals. Evgeni Nabokov for the second straight game against Dallas, faced and stopped all 30 Stars' shots on goal, giving the Sharks a 6-0 victory and extending his shutout streak against the Stars to two games.  ​

San Jose Sharks vs. Dallas Stars (Game 68)

The fourth meeting between the Sharks and Stars took place again at American Airlines Arena in Dallas, and both teams wore their throwback jerseys from the 1990s. Sharks players Brad Stuart registered two shorthanded goals and a +6, Patrick Marleau registered one goal, three assists and a +5, and Kyle McLaren registered one goal, four assists and a +6. The Stars outshot the Sharks 51-23 and converted on 4/5 powerplays, but the Sharks claimed an 11-4 victory with Vesa Toskala in net for his first meeting against Dallas (Evgeni Nabokov had been in goal for all three previous meetings and had only allowed one goal in three contests). 

Tonight's Game: San Jose Sharks vs. Dallas Stars (Game 72)

Teemu Selanne (SJ) opened the scoring with a breakaway backhanded goal on an assist from Adam Graves to give the Sharks a 1-0 lead. Adam Graves (SJ) himself then scored a few minutes later on a one-time feed from Vincent Damphousse. Selanne (SJ) scored again halfway through the first period to give the Sharks a 3-0 lead, which they would carry into the 2nd period. 

​In the 2nd period, Alexander Korolyuk (SJ) continued the Sharks scoring to give San Jose a 4-0 lead. Bill Guerin (DAL) then committed a penalty for Dallas and, on the ensuing Sharks powerplay, Sharks captain Patrick Marleau roofed a backhand shot to extend the Sharks' lead 5-0. Mike Ricci (SJ) scored on a backhand goal of his own and Marco Sturm (SJ) scored on a feed from Kyle McLaren to give the Sharks a 7-0 lead heading into the 3rd period. The Sharks outshot the Stars 28-16 up to the 3rd intermission. 

In the 3rd period, Vincent Damphousse (SJ) scored on a breakway to extend the Sharks' lead to 8-0. Jason Arnott (DAL) later scored on a rebound to give the Stars their first goal against Evgeni Nabokov in almost three full games. Final Score: Sharks 8, Stars 1. 

The following players were selected as the three stars of the game:

2) Teemu Selanne (SJ) registered two goals, zero assists and +4
1) Evgeni Nabokov (SJ) stopped 27 of 28 shots on goal (96%)

The Sharks outshot the Stars 34-28 for their fifth straight win against Dallas. The Sharks will next travel to Los Angeles to face the Los Angeles Kings, whom the Sharks are 3-0-0 against this season.

San Jose Sharks 9, Los Angeles Kings 1 (Game 71)

The Sharks (69-1-0) and Kings (32-29-8) met for the third time this season, with the Sharks playing host at HP Pavilion in San Jose. The Sharks had won both prior meetings, and for this game both teams donned their vintage throwback jerseys. 

Los Angeles Kings vs. San Jose Sharks (Game 35)

Vesa Toskala (SJ) and Roman Cechmanek (LA) started in goal. The Sharks opened the scoring with a shorthanded goal by Vincent Damphousse (SJ), which was followed by a goal by Scott Hannan (SJ) to give the Sharks a 2-0 lead heading into the 2nd period.  

Patrick Marleau (SJ) scored shorthanded nine seconds into the 2nd period to give the Sharks a 3-0 lead, but Mattias Nordstrom (LA) answered on the powerplay for the Kings' first goal of the game. Teemu Selanne (SJ) responded with a goal to extend the Sharks' lead to 4-1, but Luc Robitaille (LA) scored to pull the Kings back to within 4-2 to end the 2nd period. 

Jaroslav Modry (LA) scored midway through the 3rd period to pull the Kings to within 4-3 of the Sharks, and Jonathan Cheechoo (SJ) was called for tripping in the final minute of the game. On the ensuing Los Angeles powerplay, Vincent Damphousse won the faceoff in the Sharks' zone and Dan McGillis banked his clearing attempt off the boards and into the empty Kings net, giving the Sharks a 5-3 victory. The Kings outshot the Sharks 29-23, and the players selected as the three stars of the game were:

San Jose Sharks vs. Los Angeles Kings (Game 36)

The second meeting of the season took place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Roman Cechmanek (LA) again started for the Kings, while Evgeni Nabokov (SJ) replaced Vesa Toskala in goal for the Sharks. 

Marco Sturm (SJ) opened the scoring midway through the first period to give the Sharks a 1-0 lead heading into the 2nd period. 

The Sharks then scored five straight goals in the 2nd period, courtesy of Mike Ricci, Patrick Marleau (two goals), Marco Sturm and Teemu Selanne to take a 6-0 lead into the 3rd period. The Sharks also outshot the Kings 20-16 by the 2nd intermission. 

Teemu Selanne (SJ) opened the third period scoring on a breakaway goal, and Brad Stuart (SJ) scored a shorthanded goal to give the Sharks an 8-0 victory. The Sharks outshot the Kings 26-25, and the players selected as the three stars of the game were:

2) Evgeni Nabokov (SJ) registered 25 saves on 25 shots
1) Marco Sturm (SJ) registered two goals, one assist and +4

Tonight's Game: Los Angeles Kings vs. San Jose Sharks (Game 71)

The 1st period saw the Sharks dominate with goals by Adam Graves (PP), Dan McGillis, Mike Rathje, and a hat trick by captain Patrick Marleau, who started and ended the first period scoring. The Sharks converted on 2/5 powerplays and held the Kings to only 3 shots on goal to the Sharks' 17 in the first period. 

The second period saw a reversal of fortunes, as the Sharks failed to register a goal (despite launching 15 shots on net), but the Kings recorded a shorthanded goal by Jozef Stumpel. It was the first shorthanded goal against for the Sharks all season, and the 2nd period ended with the Sharks leading 6-1. 

Adam Graves (SJ) opened the scoring in the 3rd period for San Jose, and Marco Sturm and Niko Dimitrakos added goals of their own to give the Sharks a 9-1 victory. The Sharks outshot the Kings 41-20, and the following three players were selected as the three stars of the game:

1) Patrick Marleau (SJ) registered three goals, zero assists and +4

The Sharks will now travel to the American Airlines Arena to face the Dallas Stars, whom the Sharks are 4-0-0 against this season. Evgeni Nabokov, who will start for San Jose, has only allowed one goal in three contests against the Stars this season. The game is scheduled to premiere on Saturday, May 24th at 9:00PM.
